I first came to Morocco in the early 1970s, and instantly fell in love with this enigmatic country. I loved the exotic mix of cultures and the geographic extremes of high mountains, Atlantic coastline, sand dunes and snow-covered vistas. Above all I loved the people, their history and the way their colourful culture welcomes the visitor. A short time later I started running adventure holidays to Morocco in an old Land Rover. Now, some thirty-odd years later, I am just as enamoured with Morocco as I ever was.

From this first involvement with Morocco, Discover Ltd was formed to run educational field study trips in France and Morocco. In 1990 Discover bought the ruined Kasbah du Toubkal, and in 1995 it opened its doors.

Being a keen cyclist, I’ve crossed the country on bike from the Mediterranean coast through the Rif Mountains, on to Marrakech and then up into the High Atlas Mountains. From a cyclist’s point of view the magnificent and varied terrain does not get much better.

The Marrakech International Film Festival was created  in 2001 by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to promote arts and the film industry in Morocco.
Renewing the dialogue between talents and intellects, encouraging diversity and building bridges between different cultures and countries, the Marrakech International Film Festival has become a crossroad where great national and international actors, producers, film makers and directors are gathered every year .
Personalities from the seventh art from all over the world compose our jurys, important delegations are present for the tributes to their countries, a large number of diversified films are shown to the public. All this and more allows the Festival to become an iconic event in the world of cinema and Morocco is now a privileged destination for major movie productions.
The programming, tributes, masterclasses, audio description films for the visually impaired and projections on the main square of Jemaa El Fna have contributed to make the Marrakech International Film Festival a place where dreams, art and civic engagement coexist in harmony.

It may not be Monza, but this three-day grand prix is part of the World Touring Car Championship and the largest event of its kind in Africa. This year, on a brand new grade-2 track designed by Hermann Tilke, over a hundred supercars will slog it out in four racing series. With much-loved Moroccan driver Mehdi Bennani in the race the home crowd will be out in force.
